September 2025

PTSC Offshore Service (POS) was awarded contract for development of Lac Da Vang Oilfield Block 15-1/05. One of the main scopes is installation of PLEM using driven pile and pin locking mechanism.

As a part of installation, OCS was awarded by POS to provide tools and manpower to perform dual direction drilling on the PLEM for pin installation.

OCS Scope:

As part of this installation, POS engaged OCS to provide both tools and manpower to perform dual direction drilling on the PLEM for pin installation. OCS accepted the challenge of conceptualising, procuring materials, fabricating and testing a purpose-built Deployable Drilling Unit (DDU) within just two weeks. This one-of-a-kind unit incorporated:
  • A surface-controlled drilling system
  • Side approach drilling unit
  • Compatibility with piles up to 36”
  • Optional dual drilling capability for 4” or 6” holes
The drilling operations were executed by OCS’s trained technicians in close coordination with all involved parties to ensure smooth and safe execution.

Project Outcome:

Despite the tight schedule, OCS successfully completed the works in full compliance with client requirements. The specially designed dual-direction drilling system reduced the conventional drilling duration by enabling simultaneous drilling from both sides while maintaining precise alignment of the holes.

Through integrated engineering, procurement and project management, OCS overcame technical challenges and once again demonstrated its capability to deliver complex projects within constraints and to the client’s satisfaction.
