Project-PTSC – Feasibility Study For Accommodation Barge Conversion To Pipelay
ONGC KC-DWN 98/2 Project
McDermott was awarded a contract to install the CPP Jacket, LQUP Jacket, and Flare Jacket and appointed OCS to carry out the external cutting for the removal of buoyancy tanks removal and excess pile length.
OCS Scope:
The external cutting services performed by OCS included the following:
- i) CPP Jacket – 12 nos. x 96” OD x 60mm WT piles
- ii) LQUP Jacket – 8 nos. x 96” OD x 60mm WT piles
- iii) Flare Jacket – 6 nos. x 96” OD x 60mm WT piles
- iv) Buoyancy Tank – 6 nos. x 1500mm OD x 35mm WT stubs
OCS deployed an external cutting head, the “Chain Manipulator” which operated on bespoke clamps designed and fabricated in-house by OCS. These clamps served as tracks for the chain manipulator to traverse and cut the piles and stubs. Installation of the clamps was carried out by McDermott’s divers, following procedures developed by OCS.
Project Outcome:
The external cutting services were successfully completed in April 2024, safely and on schedule, reaffirming OCS’s continued commitment to technical excellence, operational safety and reliable project delivery.
