Vestas Tra Vinh Wind Farm
Introduction
The Tra Vin Wind Power Project is located in Tra Vinh Province, approximately 150 km southwest of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract covers installation of 12 units of V150-4.2 MW wind turbines secured by Vestas Asia Pacific A/S, the largest wind turbine manufacturer in the world based in Aarhus, Denmark.
Vestas has subcontracted the turbine installation engineering, installation barge HDB-402 engineering and rig up, marine construction management and supervision to Offshore Construction Specialists Pte Ltd (OCS) to provide all engineering analysis pertaining to transportation of installation barge HDB-402, mooring analyses, turbine components (base tower, intermediate tower, top tower, nacelle, hub, blades) lifting. OCS also provided marine construction management and installation procedures including an offshore team station onboard installation barge HDB-402 to supervise and coordinate the marine operation.
The turbines are installed on reinforced onshore gravity foundations that are raised above sea level on multi-pile structures and connected to shore with link bridges that carry onshore power cables and facilitate easy access to the turbines for operation and maintenance purposes. Clean renewable energy generated by the Tra Vinh Wind Power Project is transmitted to the grid and sold to EVN under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
The project was successfully completed in September 2021.
